  • Actively engage and energize JCAHC’s stakeholders including coalition members and organizational partners.

  • Maintain and support a strong board of directors: serve as ex-officio of each board committee and seek and build board involvement with strategic direction.

  • Prior to the end of each fiscal year, work with members, board members and staff to develop a plan for the next year that sets ambitious and achievable goals and identifies specific strategies to achieve those goals.

  • Stay informed of the work of affordable housing organizations elsewhere in Iowa, and throughout the country, to identify promising initiatives that could be adapted to, and implemented in, Johnson County.

The Role

The Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition believes that affordable housing is a right for all residents of Johnson County.  Our mission is to increase access to affordable housing for lower-income people through advocacy, education, and partnerships.  The Executive Director is a leader and influential voice in the community to support this mission.

As Executive Director, you will collaborate with the board of directors to create and implement a strategy which engages and inspires our community, including for-profit businesses, to take actions in support of affordable housing.

The Executive Director will expand our current local advocacy by creating an education/outreach project that contextualizes the affordable housing crisis.  Success in this position will require growth in our general membership, the strengthening of our partnerships with state agencies and organizations and shaping the process and outcome of local planning efforts in our cities and county.

A strong candidate will have:

Experience and success in revenue generation/fundraising

Skills building collaborative relationships with local organizations and leaders

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience representing an organization to the public, supporters, and organizations

Additional Details:

The position is a mix of in-person and remote work.  JCAHC has monthly board meetings, and two monthly committee meetings.  You will also be expected to represent the Coalition at city and county government meetings, and various other functions.

Applications will be considered as they are received.
